The Beauty of Women's Figure Skating

I remember when they did doubles and everyone was thrilled.
Now they do triples as a matter of course.
Personally, I don't know how they do it!

It's a lovely sport.

and the winner is... from South Korea!

Kim and her Coach are happy campers.

Her music was fabulous, romantic and sensual.

Her technique was perfection.

The Olympic Opening Ceremonies - Canada

I was disappointed with the Canadian opening ceremonies.
They lacked flavor, or something! Not sure
what it was, they seemed to be presented poorly.
But hey, that's just my opinion.
You may feel differently.

What a great idea... it was tested, now it's permanent!

City officials said that the closures — which bar vehicular traffic from Broadway between 47th and 42nd Streets, and from 35th Street to 33rd Street — did result in a 35 percent reduction in pedestrian injuries.

And local business groups have surveyed their customers about the project; reviews have mostly been positive.

I've got one free trip on USAirways. Going to HAVE TO check this out!

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

I admit it, I'm an Award Addict. I love the looks they get
on their faces when their names are announced. I love the
speeches they make, the people they thank; I can almost hear
their hearts thumping away at the excitement of it all.

This morning the Academy announced the nominees in each category.
There was a big change this year. They nominated TEN films for
Best Picture instead of the usual five. The audience, made up
mostly of journalists and early morning eager members, seemed
to like the idea of ten nominees for Best Picture. The one
question I'd like to ask is, WHY do they have it so EARLY in
the morning? What's wrong with NOON ?? Works for me.

Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, and Steven Spielberg.

The most fascinating area of the Awards this year, is the apparent success of
Sandra Bullock, when two of the nominees in the same category are no other
than two of the world's Best Actresses ever: Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep.

Can you imagine how Ms.Sandra feels, having bested them both at
The Golden Globes AND at the Screen Actors Guild Awards? I mean,
that last one is voted on by her peers! That's quite a stamp
of approval for her, and if she wins The Oscar, I cannot imagine
that she won't mention her pride at being in the same category
with those two ladies, and then winning.

It all takes place on Sunday night, March 7. Check your local
times for airing on ABC Television Network. Out East it's 8 PM.
I know where I live, it's at 6 PM. Of course, I always have to
watch every Red Carpet Channel to see all the gowns, and the
families and partners of the stars. Quite fun.

I like to watch them both at the same time.

What time is it? I think it's NOW. (translated: Eastern Daylight Time)
